The School's Mission Statement:
Bai Da Wei School believes that every child can learn and seeks to provide quality English instruction that will enable children to become confident students in school and in life.
All of our teachers and staff feel that children who love to study become better students, so we try to make each class fun and exciting while providing quality English instruction. Our curriculum is designed to enable our students to progress naturally so that they will learn how to use English correctly and can effectively communicate using English. Our educational approach emphasizes a “natural” way to learn English much the same way that parents teach babies to speak their first language. Once children learn the basic sounds and letters of English and simple vocabulary, they can begin to develop their listening abilities that will help them study new words and sentences. As children become more confident, we begin to introduce reading and writing, essential skills for effective English communication.
Because our teachers are native English speakers from around the world, students hear English spoken clearly and correctly with native speaking accents. We are very particular in how we select our teachers here at BDW and provide training for them in our curriculum and method of teaching. Our Chinese teachers also work closely with our foreign teachers in planning classes and discussing particular challenges that students may be having. Our teachers listen to each student and by carefully planned activities, assist Chinese students with listening and pronunciation problems that are specific to Chinese English speakers.
Providing this kind of education not only gives students a great foundation in English with native English speaking teachers but also helps students to become confident learners. We feel strongly that all students be given the same opportunities to learn without strong outside pressure to succeed. When students feel comfortable and relaxed in classes, their studies really improve. We encourage all our students to participate in each class so that teachers can monitor each student’s progress. This is really important and we hope that parents will encourage their child to speak up in class.
We will insist on providing quality English instruction and helping the students to be successful.
